Full Time Woof Pack

My name is Melissa Helms ( formerly MacKinnon) and I am the owner and ABCDT trainer for Woof Pack. I am originally from Winston- Salem, North Carolina and I moved to the High Country several years ago. I graduated from Appalachian State University and loved Boone and the High Country so much I never left! I really love being around all types of animals and I currently have 7 dogs and a cat, each with a very unique personality:

Samson  is a 15 year old Great Pyrenees. He is a Certified Therapy Dog,

PTSD Service Dog, and the love of my life!

     Watauga Humane Society

Navi is a 4 year old Maremma Sheepdog.

I fostered Navi through Partners Canines and she ended up being a foster failure. This sweet girl is very smart and she also loves to play dress up!

We aren't quite sure what Loki is! She showed up at Woof Pack around 8 weeks old. She is a handful!

As you can see many of my dogs are rescues. I have a special place in my heart for shelter dogs and rescue organizations and I feel that the work these folks do in their community is an invaluable resource and they deserve all the help they can get! I am a dog lover first, and a dog trainer second. I know from first-hand experience the difference dog training makes in the relationship between dog and owner. Without professional training it can sometimes be a frustrating relationship, but with an investment in good training a wonderful transformation will occur. My mission is to help you and your dog enjoy many happy years together.
